Mission Statement
The Learning Nest provides a safe, developmentally appropriate, nurturing, Christ-centered environment that promotes social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth, as well as a positive self-image and a love of learning. The Learning Nest strives to provide a strong foundation for future academic success. We aim to develop life-long relationships with every child. As a private preschool, we believe that God has an active part in all aspects of our lives and carry that into our school setting.
Philosophy
The Learning Nest Preschool is based on the belief that all children are a gift from God with unique God-given talents. We believe that young children learn by doing: What is meaningful and important to children is what they know, see and feel. All learning must begin there, building on what children know, helping them to understand connections and relationships. Our teachers and staff serve as role models to the children, as well as their families. They guide the children to express their thoughts and feelings in a positive, productive manner, including the use of prayer. The teachers and staff also create a nurturing environment that encourages active learning and provides activities that nourish the children’s cognitive, spiritual, physical, intellectual, and social/emotional growth. Our curriculum and its activities are implemented in a warm, supportive atmosphere where the uniqueness of each child is recognized and valued. This is accomplished by exposing the children to a large variety of hands-on experiences appropriate to their age and developmental level. The curriculum also includes character lessons based on biblical values in order to help the children make sense of the complicated world in which they live. The Learning Nest has a comprehensive approach to educating and enriching the whole child. Everything we do should have a purpose and be grounded in best practices for early childhood education through the use of Ohio’s Early Learning & Development Standards to ensure that children receive a quality education. Our preschool curriculum is also play-based because play is vital in a young child’s learning. Our experienced and highly qualified staff enable each child to reach his or her highest potential by supporting children wherever they are on their own learning path and timeline.
Vision
The Learning Nest intends to provide a secure, caring, and enriched environment that promotes the learning and development of the whole child, including spiritual, mental, and emotional development. We believe it is our duty to help each child develop lifelong relationships, show forth Christ, and develop as individuals with core values.
Our Core Values
The Learning Nest focuses on the individuality and uniqueness of each child. We provide an environment that allows each child to develop at his/her own pace and activities are planned that encourage self-confidence, spontaneity, curiosity, and self-discipline, as well as assisting in the development of the child’s social and emotional health. The Core Values of our Preschool center on Jesus’ words in Matthew 19:14 “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” “But those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not become weary, they will walk and not faint” Isaiah 40:31
