Our teacher/student ratio is 14:1, meaning 1 teacher can have up to 14 students. Once we hit 15 students in a single classroom, another adult will be added.
YES! We are licensed through the ODJFS. Licensed centers undergo much more stringent standards and regulations to ensure the health and safety of our children than those that are not licensed.
Our classrooms foster the “Whole-Brain Teaching” Behavior and Discipline approach. Whole brain teaching is an instructional and behavioral approach that integrates social-emotional learning into a highly energetic, authentically engaged learning process. There is a basic lesson structure that each learning moment follows, giving students ownership of their learning through mimicry while reinforcing positive behaviors. We take ownership of our actions, but through this approach, are given opportunities to change unwanted behaviors and regain control of our actions through five main areas. These five main areas are: • Attention-Getter • Brain Engager • Classroom Rules • Direct Instruction • Collaborative Learning
Yes! Every child attending (ages 3-5) will need to be potty-trained.

If your child is using Extended Care, they will need to bring a packed lunch every day. An afternoon snack will be provided for those children who use Extended Care. Also, if your child attends Extended Care during the morning, they can eat breakfast before arriving or bring it in with them to eat in the room upon arrival.
Ensuring the safety of the entire school population is essential to our preschool program. The Learning Nest Preschool & Daycare has procedures outlined in our Handbook that only allows those who are approved to enter the facility.
You can find The Learning Nest’s own philosophy and mission under our Philosophy & Mission Statement tab.
This is probably the most important question as there is a huge difference between a daycare and preschool. Daycares offer the bare essentials -they make sure your child is cared for and basically just looked after for the day, lacking the structure, curriculum and education of a preschool, which is included in our daily schedule, along with teaching the Ohio Preschool Standards. The standards promote the understanding of early learning and development, provide a comprehensive and coherent set of early childhood educational expectations for children’s development and learning, and guide the design and implementation of curriculum, assessment and instructional practices with young children.
